Chillin' at the Library

[Soul]

I sat at a table in the far corner of the library's second floor by a window and payed no attention to the small book in front of me. Finding the window more interesting, I watched as people lived about their day with slight boredom and sighed. A girl tripped on her own feet and I couldn't help but chuckle lightly at her clumsiness.

[Rya]

I walk around the corner and trip. I hit the ground and hear someone laughing at me. I begin to blush out of embarrassment. I get up and see the boy laughing. "It's not nice to laugh at people."

[Soul]

My eyes widened in slight shock that the girl could hear me from the second floor but quickly returned to their cynical look. "Well, maybe you should watch your step..." I looked away and stared at my book.

[Rya]

"Doesn't matter. It's not polite to laugh at people when they fall." I look down and see that I scraped up my knee when I fell. I sit down and rub my knee and start crying.

[Soul]

I sighed and jumped out the window, landing next to her and kneeling to get a closer look at her knee. It mostly just broke skin with a little bit of blood spotting here and there so I stood up and offered her my hand. "Get up. It's not the end of the world." I looked away and kept my hand out, afraid that my cold exterior would falter.

[Rya]

I look up at the boy and wipe my tears. I grab his hand and stand up. "T-thank you."

[Soul]

"I think the librarian at the front counter had a box of band-aids on her desk. We could go in and get you one." With out an answer from the small girl, I walked toward the entrance of the library.

[Rya]

I follow him while limping. It didn't hurt much but I was hoping to make him feel bad. I reach the counter with him already there.

[Soul]

I handed her the box and left for the stairs. When I got back to my seat, I sat and stared out the window lost in my thoughts.

[Rya]

I get a Band-Aid out and put it on. It stung but I just bit my tongue and ignored it. I walk upstairs hugging my tail. I find the boy. "Thank you for helping me."

[Soul]

She followed me? I glanced at her and nodded my head once then stared at my book.

[Rya]

I get annoyed at him. Why, he's not even reading. He's just staring at it, not caring at all. I sit across from him and watch him.

[Soul]

I notice her sit across from me and glance up at her. "What is it?" I tilted my head and yawned into my hand. Would she just leave me be if I was more rude to her?

[Rya]

I start to laugh. "Oh nothing." I continue to watch him. "You know, your icy exterior doesn't fool me. I can tell you actually care. Otherwise you wouldn't have helped me."

[Soul]

I gulped and averted my eyes. "Can't you just mind your own business?" I gave her an icy glare, hoping she wouldn't try to get involved with me. The last thing I wanted was to cause trouble for her or anyone she knew.

[Rya]

"See? Right there. That little icy glare. You don't fool me. And by the way, I'm going nowhere. You helped me so now I stick around."

[Soul]

I sighed in defeat and got out of my chair, walking down the stairs and out the door. Damn this little girl...

[Rya]

I grin, knowing I won. I follow behind him. "So since I'm staying, we might as well get to know each other. My name is Rya."

[Soul]

I ignored her and rounded a corner. Shouldn't this little girl be somewhere else?

[Rya]

"Come on buddy get used to it. I'm sticking with you. Just drop the act already." I start to pick up the pace as the pain in my knee goes away completely.

[Soul]

I turned suddenly and she bumped against me. "You know what," I said, a little agitated, "how about I buy you some food and then be on my way. Alone. Sound good?" I scratched the back of my head and shifted on my feet.

[Rya]

"Feel free to buy me something to eat but I'm still coming with you. Can't get rid of me friend." I smile at him.

[Soul]

I walked her over to a small booth of toys. "Choose away and then I'll be on my way." I leaned against a nearby wall and waited for her.

[Rya]

I look at him a bit insulted. "I'm 17. I don't play with toys. Even if I did, it wouldn't be enough to get me to go away."

[Soul]

"You're seventeen?!" I widened my eyes and stared st her in disbelief. "You look like you're four!" I slumped to the ground and mumbled to myself.
